Dedicated to the memories of Betty Ong, Todd Beamer, and everyone else
murdered on September 11, 2001
I only hope that I never have
to be this heroic.
Honey, it's me, I'm sorry,
I'm calling you to say goodbye.
You'll never know how very much I love you,
I don't think I can tell you, but I'll try.
When I left this morning,
We didn't even stop to kiss.
And now I'll never have the chance to do more
Than apologize for chances that I've missed.
I never told you all the days you brightened,
I never found a moment that I could,
I never mentioned watching the moonlight on your face,
Or how time without you just was not as good.
Honey, it's me, I'm sorry,
I can't do better than "I love you".
No matter what, you'll find out what happened,
But now it's time, and we've got work to do.
They say these phones disrupt the navigation,
I can't believe how hard I hope that's true.
