Tom Smith DiseaseWords and Music: © 1994 by Tom SmithI used to work for a nasty little dump (because of the alleged management; the job itself wasn't that bad, just low-paying) that prepared university-press manuscripts. I used to type some of the most amazing stuff into a computer for further processing. Well, one morning, I found myself staring at a page informing me that, in 1874, at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London (the same Bart's where Holmes met Watson), a doctor researched and documented a bone disease that struck children between the ages of six months and two years; and that, in his honor, this disease was referred to as, "Tom Smith's Arthritis." Now, when you find out at 8:30 a.m. that there's a child-maiming bone disease with your name on it, it tends to color your whole day. Listen to the recording on Plugged for guest appearances by Magenta, Columbia, Edmund (bastard son to Gloucester), and Londo Mollari. True fact! Most of the songs on this tape were arranged completely or mostly in the tremendous music-improvising-and-arranging software SuperJAM! But not this one. I did this one note for note, and I hope it sounds as good to you as it does to me. Gee, I can kinda write piano music! In the Old Days, the priests filled the rituals and
feasts Those woad-wattled Wiccans would wither wide woodlands
Well, it started one spring with that Frank Hayes-ish
thing Now, Frank found fine filk, fitting friendly folks'
feelings,
So, if you're out filking and somebody's milking If he's telling tall tales till tis' tempting to
